The production of crushed stone, sand and gravel all decreased in the first three months in US.
4% decreased of the sand and gravel production. 3% decreased for the aggregate in the first three months in 2017 according to the US Geological Survey quarterly Mineral Industry Surveys.
It is estimated that 260 million tonnes of crushed stone and 166 million tonnes of construction sand and gravel was shipped for building.
Construction sand and gravel was made by about 4,000 companies and government agencies from approximately 6,350 operations in 50 States. Texas was the top producer, followed by California, Michigan, Minnesota, Utah, Washington, New York, Arizona, Ohio, and Colorado, in descending order. Those 10 states accounted for approximately 55% of total output.
Sand and gravel dropped were seen in six of the nine geographic divisions when compared to the first quarter of 2016. The largest decreases in percentages were recorded in the West North Central, the Middle Atlantic, and the East North Central divisions.
In 45 of the estimated 23 states, production has increased. The five main countries are descending: Texas, California, Arizona, Washington and Colorado. Their total number of mergers was 61.6 metric tons, down 6% from the first quarter of 2016.
Compared with the first quarter of 2016, the total population of nine geographical areas decreased in five regions. The largest decline was in the West Central West division. Of the 43 countries that have made estimates, 26 have grown. The five major countries declined in succession: Texas, Florida, California, Georgia and North Carolina. Their total score was 138m tons, representing an increase of 3% over the same period of 2016.
